How Henry Clay Influsnced the 19th Century/Slave Era
Henry Clay was very important in the 19th Century. When he was involved in politics during the 19th Century, the USA was only around its 4th president. In this time period, there were still some disagreements about the country and there was still being land added into the country. There was also a lot of talk going on about slavery. Henry made a big difference in America during this time period. When all of the talk was about slavery, South Carolina was thinking about seceding. Henry influenced this by keeping them in the country. Also during this time period, California was trying to be entered into the country. Henry helped California enter the Union as a non-slave state. Henry was known as the great compromiser for helping a lot in the Missouri Compromise. This entered Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a non-slave state. It also divided the Louisiana Territory in half. Any land above the dividing line (on the north) would be free land for the slaves. This was a very important event in the slave era.
